Sustainability

Top Message|Masayuki Satomi, CEO

While upholding “safety” as the top management priority as its group-wide philosophy, the JR East Group aims to realize both a “sustainable society” and the sustainable growth of the Group by raising the trust of stakeholders, who are the foundation of all our businesses, and by continuing to take on the challenge of “providing new value to society based on the ‘richness’ of the lives of people (all people).” As a Group member, Nippon Hotel will continue to pursue sustainable, high-quality services in order to achieve these goals, and will continue to play a role in the development of local tourism and the revitalization of the local economy.

Along with changes in values and lifestyles, customers’ expectations for the hotel business are changing, and COVID-19 accelerated this change. So far, Nippon Hotel has been working to reduce CO2 emissions, plastic consumption, and food waste, and moving ahead, we have decided to further strengthen these efforts by clarifying our sustainability policy and building a system that enables us to work quickly.

Our company will continue to contribute to the creation of a sustainable society through various activities in cooperation with local communities, business partners, and other stakeholders, with the aim of reducing our environmental impact and creating safe, secure, and people-friendly hotels where employees want to continue working. We sincerely hope that many people will understand our company’s activities through this website.

Sustainability Initiatives

Nippon Hotel Co., Ltd., the flagship hotel company of the JR East Group (a 100% subsidiary of JR East), aims to be “a company that is friendly to the local and global environment” by responding to environmental problems and conducting community and social contribution activities. The JR East Group as a whole is working to resolve social issues through its business, and to develop local communities and achieve the international goal of “Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).” As a hotel management company with a wide range of hotel brands, our company believes that making every contribution to realizing a sustainable future is necessary.
In recent years, consumer interest in sustainability initiatives has increased, and they are increasingly important as an indicator of the choice of hotels. Our company has long worked to reduce energy consumption, plastic consumption, and food loss, and from now, we will contribute to our customers, local communities, and the international community by further strengthening our sustainability initiatives. As a member of the JR East Group, which is highly public, and as a hotel operator with a large number of customers, we will work diligently to achieve the SDGs, which are common worldwide issues, as a “hotel chain that actively engages in sustainability initiatives.”
